A.J. Hospital and Research Centre Launches Second Batch of Geriatric Caregiver and Home Health Aide Course

 

Mangaluru: A.J. Hospital and Research Centre, inaugurated the second batch of the Geriatric Caregiver and Home Health Aide Course. This program continues to reaffirm its commitment to enhancing elderly care while providing vocational opportunities to aspiring healthcare workers.

 

The orientation program began with a prayer, followed by the ceremonial watering of a plant, symbolizing growth and nurturing, marking the official inauguration of the second batch. Dignitaries, faculty, and students participated in the event, which emphasized the importance of quality training for elderly care and the empowerment of caregivers.

 

The purpose of this course is to equip participants with skills for safe and professional care for the elderly, suitable for home or assisted living settings. The course also aims to provide early school leavers and pre-graduates with vocational skills, fostering sustainable livelihoods.

The course period is between 2 and 5 months, and the nominal fee is Rs. 3000/—for the Geriatric Caregiver and Rs. 5000/—for the Home Health Aide (HHA) courses, respectively.

 

Approved by the Government of India and the Healthcare Sector Skill Council, New Delhi, the certificates awarded upon completion are recognized both nationally and internationally. Notably, A.J. Hospital and Research Centre is the first hospital in coastal Karnataka to be certified as an Approved Training Provider for these programs.

 

The program addresses the growing demand for skilled caregivers while contributing to the well-being of the elderly population. Participants receive training in patient handling, care techniques, and treatment protocols, ensuring high standards of safety and compassion in caregiving.
