A J Hospital Celebrates International Women’s Day

Mangaluru: To mark the International Women’s day, A J Hospital and Research Centre in association with Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing and Lions Club of Netravati organised an “Awareness programme on Women’s Health”, at the Conference Hall, A J Hospital premises here on March 8.

The programme began with an invocation. Director Medical Administration Dr Amitha P Marla welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by the former HOD dept of Obstetrics and Gynaecology A J Institute of Medical Sciences Dr Latha Sharma by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.  Dr Latha Sharma was felicitated by Dr  Prashanth and Amitha P Marla  on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering Dr Latha Sharma said, “Every day is Women’s day. I have the proud privilege of working here for 10 years. I had the privilege of all the high-tech facilities in A J Hospital and the satisfaction of working for such an institution. When I was working here in A J Hospital I had the professional satisfaction and happiness”.

Dr Latha further said, “A Woman always takes care of her children forgetting her own health. That is called mother because she thinks only of her family before anything else, She only wants appreciation for her work. She works for the welfare of the family and needs appreciation for her sacrifice. Today’s women are very smart, they are the backbone of the family. They can conquer the world by their courage conviction and confidence. If we want to develop the society and country we need to empower women and to empower women, education is very much important. All children whether boys or girls should be treated equally. Parents inspiration, perspiration, guidance, and support will make every child reach certain heights and achieve something in the society.”

Principal, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing Dr Larissa Martha Sams and President of Lions Club of Nethravati Geetha Kalyanpur also spoke on the occasion.

Gynaecologist, A J Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Dr Vatsala Kamath delivered a talk on Women’s health. A skit “Be bold for the change”, was presented by the students of Laxmi Memorial Nursing College on the occasion.

Tutor LMCN Sandhya D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.  HR Executive Divya Shetty compered the programme.
