A Seminar on Combating Hate Speech to Promote Peaceful Living
Mangaluru: Justice & Peace Commission, Diocese of Mangalore, and Bandhavya Society Mangalore jointly organized a half-day seminar on “Combating Hate Speech to Promote Peaceful Living” at the ISO Mother Theresa Hall on 5th October 2024.

The programme commenced with a prayer and lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Rev. Fr Vincent D’Souza, Director of the Institute for Social Development (ISD) welcomed the dignitaries on the dais and the participants.
The President of the programme, Rt. Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, shared a glimpse about Truth, Justice, and Equality in society. He encouraged the participants to walk in the path of truth.
Resource person Mr. Anto Akkara, a Journalist, began with the quote “Sathyameva Jayathe” with the example of Mahatma Gandhiji. He explained about the campaign for Truth and Justice for the voiceless especially Kandamahal and Manipur victims. He said that truth is powerful, everyone who finds the truth succeeds in life.
Ms Shilpa Prasad and Ms Manavi Atri, High Court Lawyers, spoke about the campaign against Hate Speech. They motivated the participants to raise their voices and take action against hate speech and assault on equality and dignity.
Rev. Fr Sibi, Chairperson Bandhavya, and Rev. Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, Director of Canara Communication Center of Mangalore Diocese, were present for the programme.
The programme was compered by Rev. Fr Vinod Mascarenhas, Director of Vimukthi.
