ACCE (I) Join MCC in taking Survey of the Apartments in City prior to Start of Grocery Home Delivery
Civil Engineers of Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India)-Mamgaluru Chapter (ACCE (I) in association with Mangaluru City Corporation engaged themselves in taking survey of the number of apartments and houses in Mangaluru, prior to the home delivery of grocery, as announced by the Administration, MP and MLA few days ago.
Mangaluru: These are not just professional Civil Engineers who are responsible for the infrastructure and other constructions in the City and beyond, but they are also Good Samaritans, when it comes to serving the society, in the time of need- and their voluntarism during this lock down should be very much appreciated by the community- because citizens should note that these civil engineers are among the most influential professionals in our communities. They shape neighborhoods with their structures and their services. They create jobs for people and jump start economic activities. They bring far fetched ideas to life and improve on existing ideas to make them much better and much more efficient. They are among the people who ignite change in society. Many people look up to them as inspirations, as leaders, as pillars of society.
Little do people know that being an engineer, for that matter, a Civil Engineer, is a demanding and tough task. It is not for mere men to become engineers as it takes the best and brightest minds to be able to come up with innovations and advancements that would stand the test of time. It demands the best and does not settle for anything but the best because as any good engineer worth his salt would know, in his hands lay the future of society. They also play a important role in our daily lives, and these engineers shape the future one day at a time. And such kind of Civil Engineers are part of the ACCE(I)- Mangaluru Chapter, who have stepped forward to help the MCC and in other social service activities, helping the needy during this pandemic.
L-R : Er Suraj Kumar Shetty (AGM- Tech Dept Ramco Cements Ltd-Mangaluru) with Er Uday Kumar, doing Survey
When MCC decided to deliver grocery at door steps, Er Vijaya Vishnu Mayya , the Vice President of National ACCE(I) South, discussing with bunch of other civil engineers from ACCE (I)-Mangaluru, why don’t they help out in doing the survey of the apartments/houses in the City, so that MCC will have the right count as to how many places they have to deliver the commodities- and everyone agreed for the idea- and so a group of ACCE (I) civil engineers drove around the City, and took count of the number of apartments inn various Wards- and they have almost done with all the 60 Wards in the City- with only a few more to go- and their efforts did slowed down due to lock down in the City. By doing such survey it did matter a lot to MCC to finalize with their home delivery of groceries in a systematic way.
And recently MCC had released the names of nearly 180 supermarkets and provision stores, who would home delivery of groceries, which was suppose to start today (30 March), but due to the lock down many of these stores were closed, some didn’t open due to shortage of items, and no one answered calls when they placed orders, through the phone numbers published in the list. But MCC has assured this problem would be taken care of soon, and citizens don’t have to panic.
Apart from these civil engineers involving in the survey taking act, this morning ( Monday, 30 March) a bunch of them, to name a few Er Vijay Vishnu Mayya, Er Suraj Kumar Shetty, Er Vinyas Shetty, Er Devendra Shetty, Er Murali Shastri, Er Bharath, Er A V. Suresh Rao, Er Yogish Pai, Er Vimal Keerthi Jain, and also three volunteers from Malaraya Daivasthana, among others joined in packing 2000 plus food packets at Indira Canteen in Urwa Stores, Mangaluru to be distributed to the migrants, labourers and destitute who are without food during lock down.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Er Suraj Kumar Shetty, the AGM Technical dept at Ramco Cements Ltd said, ” It was a Very very proud moment. On a very urgent call from Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation, ACCE(I). Mangaluru centre swung in to action. The active members of the association rendered their best service in packing 2000 packets of food items which was served to the needy. Its a real sense of great accomplished feeling of community service. We feel proud that we joined MCC efforts in serving the needy during this pandemic. And prior to toady’s community service, many ACCE (I) members drove around the city doing a survey on the number of apartments in the City, to make it easy for MCC to have the right count when it comes to home delivery of commodities. I was joined by Civil Engineer Uday Kumar , where we both drove around and covered many Wards. Proud to be a Civil Engineer, and also feel proud to Serve the Community in times of Need”.
It is also learnt that Er Surendra, also a ACCE (I) member turned into a Good Samaritan, by offering packaged water and snacks to police personnel on duty at Talapady. Through such kind of community service and help, these Civil engineers continue to advance the civil engineering profession and in the same time serve the public good. No doubt that these engineers have dedicated their time and also their expertise to a cause that is important to everyone. Hope other Engineers will also follow in their footsteps and come forward to help during this time of pandemic. Now you know that Civil Engineers are not just ENGINEERS but in times of NEED they are GOOD SAMARITANS too.
Team Mangalorean while applauding the good work done by these Civil engineers, would like to say, “Keep Up The Good Work That You All Entrusted With, and May God Bless You All. Long Live Civil Engineers!”
