Accused Absconding in Kateel Temple Priest’s House Dacoity Case Arrested
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru South Anti Rowdy Squad arrested the accused in Kateel Temple Priest’s house dacoity case on August 9.
The arrested has been identified as Chandrahas alias Someshwar Chandra (42) from Someshwar, Ullal.
According to the police on October 4, 2016, a group of 7–8 armed men barged into the house of Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple priest Sri Vasudeva Asranna with a revolver and sharp weapons. The armed men decamped with 80 (640 grams) sovereign gold ornaments, cash and other valuables. In this connection, a case was registered in the Bajpe police station.
The CCB police arrested five accused in this case on October 17, 2016. The arrested are Sudheendra Rao H K (33) from Bejai, Chidananda (33) and Sadashiva Shetty (49) both from Thenka Yekkaru, Sooraj Kumar (35) from Yekkaru and Suresh Kumar M (40) Punacha, Bantwal. All the five accused were assisting the dacoits to execute the plan and later four more accused who were involved in the dacoity were also arrested.
Chandrahas was absconding after the crime. Chandrahas runs a hotel in Mumbai and was involved in an attempt to murder case there. In the attempt to murder case he was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment. Chandrhas is involved in various crimes and cases have been registered against him in Ullal, Kavoor police station, Barke Police station and Mangaluru East police station.
On August 9, after getting reliable information that Chandrahas had come to his home town, the Anti Rowdy squad got into action and arrested him. Chandrahas has been handed over to the Bajpe police station for further investigation.
Under the guidance of DCP law and order Hanumantharaya and DCP Crime and Traffic Lakshmi Ganesh, the operation was carried out under the leadership of ACP Mangaluru South Sub-division T Kodanda Ram and team.
