Accused in Kidnap and Sexual Assault of Minor Arrested within 24 Hours of Crime

Bengaluru: The Sriramapura police have arrested an accused in the kidnap and sexual assault of a minor within 24 hours of the crime on October 12.

The arrested has been identified as Dinesh (32) from Chennai.

According to the police, the complainant is selling toys from the past seven years near the City Railway station and residing behind the railway gate. On October 10, at around 8:30 pm, he had come home after his work. After having dinner, he went to sleep along with his four-year-old daughter near the Ticket booking counter because of the rains. At night when complainant’s wife woke up, she found that her daughter was missing. Both the parents searched for their daughter but failed to find her.

On October 11, when they went to the police station to file a case, they got the information from the K C General hospital that a four-year-old child was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The couple rushed to the K C General Hospital and found that the child admitted there was their daughter.

On October 12, the Sriramapura police intensified their search for the accused. On getting reliable information about the accused hiding near R R K Junction Okalipura the Sriramapura Police Inspector Sunil Naik along with his team went to apprehend Dinesh. When they tried to arrest him, the accused attacked the police with a knife. In the attack, ASI Venkatappa was injured. In retaliation and self-defence, Police Inspector Sunil Naik opened fire at Dinesh injuring him in the leg.

The injured ASI and the accused have been admitted to the K C General Hospital for treatment.

Sriramapura Police Inspector Sunil Naik and Team have done a commendable job by arresting the accused for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor within 24 hours of the crime.
