Accused in Lorry Driver Anil Kumar Murder Case Arrested
Mangaluru: A 50-year-old man was arrested, in connection with the murder of a lorry driver in Baikampady on August 28.
The arrested has been identified as Asadullah Sheriff (50) from Ramnagar.
According to the Police on August 28, the Ruchi Soya Industry in Baikampady sent 1050 boxes of Palm oil worth Rs 7.5 lakh to Bengaluru by a Lorry belonging to Sugama Company with Anil Kumar as the driver. But the load of Palm oil did not reach Bengaluru. In this connection, a complaint of cheating was filed in the Panambur police station on August 30.

The Panambur police Inspector Rafiq K M and PSI Umesh Kumar M N investigated the case and took Asadulla Sheriff into custody. During interrogation, Asadullah revealed that he along with his associates had killed the driver Anil Kumar and buried his body in Kumbalagodu in Ramnagar. Later they had taken away the load of Palm oil from the lorry.
The body of Anil Kumar was recovered from Kumbalagodu by the Bengaluru South police and handed over to the family members after the post-mortem.
The Bengaluru police had also registered a case of murder. The accused Asadullah was produced before the court and was sent to police custody. The police are now searching for the other accused.
Under the direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh and under the able guidance of DCP crime and traffic Uma Prashanth and ACP North Rajendra D S the operation was carried out by the Panambur police inspector Rafiq K M, PSI Umesh Kumar M N and the Panambur police including the police from the Panambur Anti Rowdy Squad.
