ACSA Condemns College Authorities Responsible for Neville’s Suicide
Mangaluru: All College Students Association staged a protest against the college authorities responsible for Neville Fernandes to commit suicide in front of the DC Office here on October 6.
The former student of Expert College Meghna said, “Neville was my neighbour, after the incident in the college he was very much upset. We need justice. I too was a student of Expert. We need justice, I had gone to the Expert College for only two months since I was not able to sustain myself there. My lecturer had demotivated me, After the examination, my lecturer discouraged and demotivated me when I wanted to join the airforce. Lecturers are supposed to encourage the students to fulfill their dreams but in this college it is different.”
Meghna further said, “Neville was my neighbour, he was very depressed after the incident in the college. My friends were telling me what had happened in the college with Neville. I want the concerned authorities to take up this case seriously and punish the culprits behind Neville’s suicide.”
ACSA Legal advisor Dinakar Shetty said, “We are ready to go on hunger strike if the District administration will not regularise the timings of schools and colleges. Colleges are organizing festivals, school days etc for which they take money from the students. If the students don’t shave, the college imposes a penalty of Rs 5. If our demands will not be met we will go on a hunger strike in front of the DC Office. We have already handed over a memorandum to the DC. We hope the district administration will do justice with the students and prevent such incidents in the future”.
ACSA PG President Bhatesh Alakemajalu, PU President Nihal Rai, Vice-president Hitesh, State Secretary Astel Lobo, President (Engineering) Sushanth Rodrigues and others were also present.
