Action to be taken if distribution of ration delayed – Khader
Mangaluru: The Minister for Food and civil supplies U T Khader held a review meeting at the DC office here on August 29.
Minister Khader ordered all the centres to store the ration by end of every month and start distribution from the 1st day of the month. But the fair price shops are not following the orders, for the month of September, only 42% of the fair price shop owners have taken the ration.
In the district, there are 474 fair price shops. Last month on the 20th ration was delivered to the shops and from 24 the distribution started. With only two days remaining to distribute the ration, 50% of the distributors have not yet taken the ration. Khader directed all the fair price shops and cooperative societies to collect the ration from the district storage centers, before 30th of every month and to distribute the same from the first of every month.
If the distributors fail to distribute the ration on time, the food inspectors should send a memo to such distributors and take strict action against them. If any distributor finds it difficult to transport the ration, we will take measures to deliver it to the respective fair price shops, said Khader.
He also ordered the deputy director of Food and civil supplies to submit the report in regard to the collection of ration by the distributors. From September 1, all the fair price shops should start the distribution of ration. Action will be taken against those distributors who fail to follow the order, Khader warned.
Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadisha, ADC KUmar, officers from Food and civil supplies and other were also present.
