Adamar Math performs Bhatta Muhurta as part of Paryaya festival in Udupi
Udupi: The Adamar Math performed Bhatta Muhurta, the last of the four major preliminaries for the Paryaya festival, here on Friday, December 6.
Ishapriya Theertha junior Swamiji of Adamar Math will ascend the Paryaya Peetha, also called the Sarvajna Peetha at the 800-year-old Sri Krishna Math/Temple here on January 18, 2020. Ishapriya Swamiji was appointed as junior Swamiji of Adamar Math by senior Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji in 2014. In 2018 November Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji announced that Ishapriya Swamiji will ascend the Paryaya Peetha.
After offering prayers to the presiding deity at the Adamar Math, four persons with baskets or murra of paddy walked in a procession, followed by the golden palanquin. The procession then went around Car Street.
Rituals were held and ‘Navagraha Danas’ were given to the representatives of 15 other Maths. A decorated dome or ‘Shikhara’ was placed on the firewood chariot near Madhwa Sarovara.
Four major preliminaries such as “Bale Muhurta”, “Kattige Muhurta”, “Akki Muhurta” and “Bhatta Muhurta” ensure that there is a plentiful supply of foodgrains for devotees of Sri Krishna Math. Paryaya is a religious ritual, taking place every alternate year at Sri Krishna Math.
The puja and the administration of Krishna Math is distributed among the Swamijis of the Ashta Maths established by Dvaita philosopher Madhwacharya.
Senior Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat and others were present on the occasion.
