Admar Math’s Junior Swamiji Eshapriya Theertha to ascend ‘Paryaya Peeta’ for the First time – Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji
Udupi: Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji, who was appointed as the junior Swamiji of Admar Math, will be ascending the ‘Paryaya Peeta’ for the first time on January 18 said Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math.
Speaking at a press meet held at the Admar Moola Math at Admar near Padubidri on Monday, January 6 Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math said, “I had performed my first Paryaya in 1988-90 with the help of Shri Vishwapriya Theertharu. The second first Paryaya was performed independently by the order of Shri Vibudhesha Theertharu in 2004-06. Now the third Paryaya will be performed by my best disciple Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji. I had a tough time to convince him to perform the Paryaya with his leadership. As a senior Swamiji of Admar Math, I will guide him every step during his two years of the Paryaya tenure.
After much persuasion, the junior Swamiji was convinced to conduct the Paryaya. “The prayers offered to Lord Krishna – ‘Avasara Sanakadi Puje’, ‘Maha Puje’ and ‘Ratri Chamara Seve’ – will be performed by Eshapriya Theertha Swami. The remaining pujas will be offered by me and other seers of the Ashta Mutts,” he added.
“I follow my senior Vibhudesha Theertha Swami, who had performed only two Paryayas (1956-58 and 1972-74). I too have completed two Paryayas (1988-90 and 2004-06). Thus, I decided to hand over the rights to ascend the Paryaya throne and to perform puja to my junior,” the Swamiji explained.
Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji further said, “Eshapriya will be given complete responsibility of the Paryaya. I’m 60 years old and I have other responsibilities with educational institutions. Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji has been one of my best disciples. He is a religious scholar and has also taken up social responsibilities. This is the right time for him to take up this responsibility. I’m sure he’ll work for the betterment of all.”
Eshapriya Theertha Swamiji speaking on the occasion said, “I take it as a blessing from my guru and will take up the responsibility. I hope to meet all his expectations.
The Swamiji further said that all good practices will continue and depending on the needs, projects will be implemented. “We have not planned any new programmes, priority will be given to Sri Krishna Puja during my Paryaya,” he said.
The Admar Swamiji is an engineering graduate and the disciple of Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji. He will be ascending the Paryaya throne for the first time.
The Paryaya festival will be held on January 18. The Paryaya procession will begin from Jodu Katte at 1:50 am. Admar Math Swamiji will ascend the Paryaya Peeta. The Paryaya Darbar programme will be held at the Rajangana at 2:30 pm.
