After 26K Cases & 71 Deaths, DCM Ashwath Narayan Assures 25K Covid-19 Rapid Test Kits & 15 Ambulances

After 26,242 Thousand Cases & 71 Deaths related to Covid-19 as of 17 July 2020, Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Ashwath Narayan Assures 25 Thousand Covid-19 Rapid Test Kits and 15 Ambulances, during a meeting with District Minister-In-Charge Kota Srinivas Poojary, and other District Authorities, held here in Mangaluru on 17 July 2020.

Mangaluru: WOW- Finally, after Dakshina Kannada had nearly twenty six thousand Covid-19 cases and 71 deaths as of 17 July 2020, the Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan, along with DK District In-Charge Kota Srinivas Poojary have come to the rescue, with their assurances of providing 25 thousand Covid-19 Rapid Test Kits and 15 Ambulances, during a meeting held here in Mangaluru along with other district Administration authorities, on 17 July 2020.

At the meeting Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “Our Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Ashwath Narayan has agreed to provide 25,000 Covid Rapid Test Kits, and also 15 ambulances to contain the increasing Covid-19 cases in Dakshina Kannada. I also had discussions with DCM pertaining to patients receiving free treatments for coronavirus treatment at private hospitals in the district. And it was decided that once the infected virus patient approaches any private hospitals which provide treatment for Covid patients, free treatment will be made available to them at government’s expenses, if needed. All the required details will be forwarded to concerned persons regarding this”.

DCM Ashwath Narayan even directed Deputy Commissioner Sindhu Roopesh to take action quickly regarding those patients undergoing treatment and in need of testing to be done for Coronavirus, and that they need not to worry about it, since everything will be taken care of. Anyways, as they say, “Better Late Than Never”, it’s nice to note the concerned Netas have finally woken up, but in the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed until their assurances are fulfilled.

Sources reveal that as per District Health Bulletin, as of 17 July 2020, Dakshina Kannada district there have been 26,242 cases sent for tests, of which 23,168 turned out negative, and 3,074 positive till date. 1,725 cases are currently active, out of this number. 1,278 persons have recovered and discharged, however, until today, there have been 71 deaths, including 7 deaths, and 311 cases, on Friday (17 July). Out of 71 deaths, 12 are from out of Dakshina Kannada. It is learnt, today, 115 patients were discharged from District Wenlock Hospital, and from other private hospitals.

The patients who died today are: 72-year-old female and two males aged 56 and 72 from Mangaluru, a 53-year-old male from Sullia, 68-year-old male from Bhatkal; a male aged 65 from Belthangady. a 70-year-old male from Sirsi, and 69-year-old male from Davanagere,
