Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked every bit the traditional Indian beauty as she exchanged pleasantries with French President Francois Hollande at a lunch hosted by the French ambassador to India, Francois Richier, in Delhi on Tuesday. Ash was ravishing in a red Banarasi sari with pink embellishments designed by Swati and Sunaina. Polki jewellery, red bindi, matching lip colour and roses in her hair accessorised her look.

“Aishwarya Rai Bachchan wishes all her well wishers a very happy Republic Day,” this image shared by her publicist read.

The Bollywood celebrities have been invited to have lunch with the President. It is a private event. They will discuss films,” French government sources told PTI earlier.

Both Ash and Shah Rukh Khan have been awarded by the French government. SRK was accorded the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres award for his “exceptional career” in 2007, In 2014, he received the Legion of Honour, France’s highest civilian award.

Aishwarya Rai is a regular at the Cannes Film Festival and is also a recipient of the ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’, the second highest French civilian honour.

Why should the Bollywood celebrities be invited to politically connected events? What exactly have they done for the nation other than being involved in tax-dodging activities? Do you people know how much this overrated “celebrity” charged the Indian commonwealth games committee (tax payers’ money) back in 2006 just so that she could appear in Sydney commonwealth valedictory function as Indian representative and dance on stage? Patriotism my foot. These people are ready to sell anything if the price is right.

Bollywood celebrities will influence the foreign leaders to invest billions of dollars in India, that might be the guessing game of Mr. Modi.

Mr. Henry James, You are perfectly right in describing the Bollywood stars as over-rated. Bollywood mostly churns out garbage films. lacking artistic values or morals and these stars are played astronomical amounts for acting in garbage films and doing pathetic roles. They live a surreal lives and they have, to put it bluntly, not connected with the masses. They bullshit by saying that they love and adore their fans, but do they have any connect with them? There are two top actors in Bollywood who are two-tongued and two-faced. By their slick talks on the eletronic media, they fool the… Read more »

The Narendra would offer Apsaras like Urvasi, Menaka, Rambha, Tilottama and Ghritachi to the visiting dignitaries in his best RSS tradition. Do not accuse him of RSS-MAN offering to a Christian, he would do the same to a Muslim dignitary too!

As expected, many unknowns from Bollywood have attended this private lunch. Lately, Bollywood also seems to be the center for all intellectual, policy oriented thoughts and discussions!! Apart from listing a few names that I don’t recognize, the report seems to indicate that there was a discussions on films? I wonder what those discussions were all about – the average number of dances in a movie OR silly fights while singing?

I wonder what those discussions were all about – the average number of dances in a movie OR silly fights while singing? – Murudeshwara Rampa Heck no! they were in all certainty/probability discussing the following: 1. http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/10/10732126/golden-globes-2016-best-comedy-musical-the-martian-nonsense Excerpts: Sure, we’ve already covered that the Golden Globes are a sham; a combination of desperation and corruption that gets wrapped up into one nonsensical display of self-indulgence — but sometimes things happen that can still surprise you. Like when The Martian wins for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy. 2. http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Why-Martian-Winning-Golden-Globes-Best-Comedy-Sucks-Real-Comedies-105127.html Excerpts: The Martian was a fantastic movie. It’s the best movie… Read more »

Many Bollywood stars are. at best, eye candies in case of males and roses in case of females, but I wonder if they have grey matter, intelligence or average levels of general knowledge. It was worth listening to one actor who became a M.P. being very uncofortable and squirmy when he was asked some questions. He was not at all wordly wise. In early 1980s, during a respite in film shooting, he was asking another co-star, what was doing on in Sri Lanka and why are people fighting there. Well, the fact of th matter was that there was L.T.T.E.… Read more »
