Mangaluru: The AJ Hospital & Research Centre (AJHRC) in association with Lions Club International, Dist. 317 D, Mangalore Kankanady-Padil celebrated International Women’s Day at the Conference Hall of AJHRC here, on March 8.
The programme was inaugurated by the Governor of Lions Club International, Dist. 317 D, Ln M Kavitha S Shastry by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries. Ln Vani V Alva was felicitated by the dignitaries for her work towards a better society.
Speaking on the occasion, Ln Kavitha congratulated everyone on the occasion of International Women’s Day and said, “My mother has been my inspiration and I thank her for bringing me into this world. No successful man can ever say that they have come up on their own. I am sure that they have come up after being inspired by some woman in their life.” She urged all the women to maintain their health with a healthy lifestyle.
To empower ourselves first we needed to understand ourselves and know our capabilities and our limits. “Don’t stretch yourself beyond what you are capable of doing and stop comparing yourself to others as everyone is unique and has different capabilities,” she said. It is important to fulfill ones ‘dharma’ (duties) and to help others as a human being. She urged everyone not to be addicted to anything and to always follow a strict diet. “Most of all, it is important to keep yourself happy,” she added.
PDG Ln KC Prabhu said, “Men and women are two sides of the same coin; without men, there can’t be women and without women, there can’t be men. AJinstitute celebrates the International Women’s Day every year and the doctors of this institute give useful lectures which are quite beneficial to the women members of the Lions Club.” He said that there shouldn’t be any difference between men and women as women were capable of doing great works in key administrative posts. It is very important to respect oneself as well as others.
Dr Anita Marla said, “The AJ institute celebrates International Women’s Day with the main focus on recognizing the achievements of women in the society and also to improve their overall health and participate along with them in building a healthy society. Women ignore their health due to various reasons, but here at AJ institute we believe that if women are fit, then the entire family is fit.”
Lydwin D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks. Club President, Ln Asha Shetty and others were also present.
