Mumbai, June 11 (IANS) Actor Akshay Kumar took potshots at Karan Johar’s role in the Anurag Kashyap directorial “Bombay Velvet” at the trailer launch of Dharma Productions’ “Brothers”.
Although “Bombay Velvet” failed to create magic at the box office, Karan received accolades for his negative role in the film.
But Akshay had different a opinion of Karan’s performance in the film.
“Karan, just because you have worn a velvet coat today doesn’t mean you are an actor,” the “Baby” star quipped at the trailer launch of “Brothers” here.
A visibly embarrassed Karan replied: “Why are you throwing salt on someone’s wounds?”
Akshay joked: “I was mum all this while, but you provoked me to say this.”
Directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan, Hiroo Yash Johar and Endemol India, “Brothers” is presented by Fox Star India, in association with Dharma Productions, Lionsgate, Endemol India, and is slated for an August 14 release.

Abhishek Bachchan on ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’
If all goes as planned, actor Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in the TV show “Diya Aur Baati Hum” to promote his Kabaddi team Jaipur Pink Panthers, a a franchise of the Pro-Kabaddi League.
Currently the show has an ongoing Kabaddi track, for which TV actor Anas Rashid who plays Sooraj, has been working on his body since months.
The integration, for which Abhishek is currently in talks with the show’s makers, only seems fit considering the Kabaddi connect.
On the big screen, the 39-year-old was last seen in the film “Happy New Year”.
“Diya aur Baati Hum” airs on Star Plus and it is about how a husband becomes his wife’s strength and helps her to fulfil her dream.

No known faces in ‘Dance+’: Remo
Don’t expect any known faces in new reality TV show “Dance+”, says choreographer-director Remo D’Souza, who has been a roped in as a judge on the Star Plus show.
“‘Dance+’ is a completely different format. There will not be any known faces on it. The people of the country will be participating in it and I will be hunting for India’s next dancing icon from the ‘aam janta’ (common people). There is going to be a lot of hardcore dancing and only pure dance will prevail as the winner,” Remo said in a statement.
“Dance+” will have three mentors on the show for its contestants and will see D’Souza as the Super Judge.
Auditions for the show will be held in 13 cities.
