All 23 crew onboard Barge at Mogaveerapattana rescued

Ullal: “All the 27 crew at the Barge are safe and have been rescued by the coastguards on June 4”, said the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader.

Speaking to mangalorean.com U T Khader said, “On June 3, the barge belonging to Bharti Construction hit the rocks in the sea at Mogaveerpattana and was partially damaged. The coastguard boat and the ship Amartya approached to rescue the crew on board the barge. But due to heavy winds and the rough sea, only 4 of the crew were rescued and brought back to the shore on June 3.”

Khader further said, “On June 4, early morning the rescue operations continued and the remaining 23 crew on board were rescued. They are safe and have been brought back to the shore”.

Minister U T Khader, DIG S S Dasil, Commandant Jaswal and others were monitoring the rescue operations. A rescue team consisting of Fifty members assisted in the operation.

Minister U T Khader congratulated the Coastguards and the Karnataka Coast Security for their swift operation in rescuing all the crew on board the stranded barge in the rough sea.
