All India Inter-University Men’s Kho-Kho Championship to be Held at Poorna Prajna College Udupi, From April 9-12
Udupi: Poorna Prajna College (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education at Mangalore University, is hosting the All India Inter-University Men’s Kho-Kho Championship from April 9 to 12. The event will take place at the Shri Vibudhesha Tirtha Swamiji Indoor Sports Complex.
Addressing the conference Dr. G S Chandrashekhar, honorary treasurer, Poornaprajna College Managing Committee, Udupi said that Established in 1960, Poorna Prajna College has been providing quality education to students in the region for over six decades. The college is managed by the Udupi Shri Adamaru Mutt Educational Trust and has received an ‘A+’ grade from NAAC in 2022. Previously, the college has successfully organized several national-level competitions, including the All India Inter-University Netball Championship in 2018 and the All India Inter-University Kabaddi Championship in 2023.
Tournament Details
The All India Inter-University Men’s Kho-Kho Championship will feature 16 selected teams from various zones across India. The teams will compete in a league/knockout format, with 20 officials from different parts of India overseeing the event. The tournament will be held at the Shri Vibudhesha Tirtha Swamiji Indoor Sports Complex, which has been temporarily constructed using German hanger technology.
Participating Teams
The 16 participating teams will represent four zones: southern, western, northern, and eastern. The teams include:
- Southern zone: Mangalore University, Davangere University, Bharathiar University Coimbatore, and Kerala University Thiruvananthapuram
- – Western zone: S.R.T.M. University, Nanded Maharashtra; B.A.M. University, Sambhaji Nagar Maharashtra; Mumbai University, and Savitribai Phule Pune University
- – Northern zone: C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur Uttar Pradesh; L.P.U. Jalandhar Punjab; Delhi University; and G.N.D.U. Amritsar Punjab
- – Eastern zone: K.I.I.T. Bhubaneswar Odisha; Hemchand Yadav University, Chhattisgarh; Gangadhar Meher University, Odisha; and Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University, Chhattisgarh
Inauguration and Closing Ceremonies
The All India Inter-University Men’s Kho-Kho Championship will be inaugurated on April 9 at 10:30 AM by Paramapujya Shri Eeshapriyatirtha Swamiji, President of the institution. The inauguration will be blessed by Paramapujya Shri Vishwapriyatirtha Swamiji, senior ascetic of the Adamaru Mutt.
