All Religions are Equal According to our Constitution – Former CM during ‘Connect – 2018’

Mangaluru: “The constitution of our country is based on Humanity. People from every religion should live in peace and brotherhood in this country. All religions are equal according to the constitution of our country”, said the former CM Siddaramaiah at “Connect – 2018” organized by the Karnataka Cultural Foundation to mark its fifth anniversary at the Nehru Maidan here on December 3.

After inaugurating the Grand Hubburasul Conference former CM Siddaramaiah said, “Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Jain, Buddhist, all communities reside in our country. All religions are equal, no religion is superior to the other. Some say that I am appeasing a particular community but I had governed the state based on the constitution. I have never said to hate other religion. We need to maintain peace, brotherhood, tolerance and harmony”.

Siddaramaiah further said, “India is the richest country with great resources and every citizen has equal rights to enjoy it. But sadly only a few people have aquired the resources. The resources of the country should be equally distributed among its citizens. Keeping it in mind I have completed my tenure as the CM and have not done anything to appease any particular community. Many people have benefitted from Anna Bhagya, Ksheera Bhagya, Krishi Bhagya and Matrpurna schemes but some people cannot digest the good things I had done and are involved in spreading propaganda. I am not worried about such people, I follow the constitution and I will work accordingly.”

Siddaramaiah also said, “The NDA government led by the BJP has failed to give good governance in the centre. They have failed to deliver on every promise they have made. When they are in trouble they remember Lord Rama and as soon as the elections are over they forget Lord Rama. All citizens should benefit through the Constitution and it is our prime duty to protect the constitution. Those who are deprived of the facilities should be given the opportunity. When we were in power, the Congress government had released Rs 3,100 crore to the minority community. Everyone should get social justice and I will pressurize the coalition government to release Rs 10,000 Crores funds for the development of the Minority community,” Siddaramaiah assured.

District minister in-charge U T Khader said, “Dakshina Kannada is a peaceful district but some people are trying to destroy the peace in the district. We all should maintain peace by understanding the conspiracy of one particular group who are hell-bent on destroying peace and creating violence. Such conferences will bring people together and I am grateful to the organizers.”

The chancellor of Yenepoya University Abdullah Kunhi also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the initiative taken by the organizers.

Siddaramaiah along with other dignitaries on the dais felicitated U T Khader on behalf of his daughter who represented India in the International Quran recitation competition. The state president of Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama Thajul Fukhanha Shaikhun P M Ibrahim Musliyar presided over the function.

Former Minister Ramanath Rai, SM Abdul Rasheed, Kanachur Monu, N S Kareem, Mohammed Masood, former MLA Moideen Bava, Ibrahim Kodijal, MLC Harish Kumar, Khader Shah, Mayor Bhaskar K and others were also present.
