Mangaluru: All’s Well that Ends Well!-That’s right. Quoting Shakespeare’s words, “But with the word the time will bring on summer, When briers shall have leaves as well as thorns, All’s well that ends well; still the fine’s the crown; Whatever the course, the end is the renown “-the three-day “Summer Camp 2017” organized for the employees children of two Kasturba Medical College Hospitals, at Attavar and Ambedkar Circle (Jyothi) concluded with a valedictory function held at KMC Attavar conference Hall on Friday, 21 April 2017. The camp kicked off on 19 April, with various activities conducted during the camp.

The chief guest for the valedictory function was Mangaluru City Corporation Ms Kavitha Sanil, who inaugurated the function by pouring water to a sapling planted in a pot kept on the stage, and she was joined by other two dignitaries on the dais namely Dr Anand Venugoapl- Medical Superintendent, KMS Hospitals, Mangaluru; and Ms Premalatha- Head of HR Dept-KMC Attavar. Prior to the inauguration, after the invocation, a brief report through audio-video was presented by Ms Jasmine Noronha- KMC staff nurse.

Addressing the gathering, Mayor Sanil said, ” It would have been nice if the camp was held for more days, where the children could have enjoyed more and made much use of their summer holidays. But anyways, something is better than nothing. It was indeed a unique way to inaugurate this valedictory function by watering a plant. This will surely send a message to all the children here that they should start planting saplings/plants at home or in the apartment, because plants/trees are good for environment and for clean air. It’s just not enough to plant a tree, but you need to water it, take care of just like how your parents take care of you, where they feed you, nurture you and care for you. So start planting trees as soon as possible and let us all see greenery in this coastal town”.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Miss Pallavi, while the entire programme was beautifully compered by Master Adithya CS. The formal function concluded with a cultural programme comprising of various Bollywood, Coastalwood and Sandalwood songs, also including the famous dance number by Remo- ” Maria Pitache” , performed well by the camp children.
