‘Aloysia 2K19’ and ‘College Day’at St Aloysius College-Harihar
Harihar : St Aloysius College Harihar conducted an Inter collegiate fest “Aloysia 2K19” for both PUC and High School students on 13th of November 2019. The Chief guest for the day was GC Niranjan DDPU of Davangere, while other guests were Fr Eric Mathias SJ Superior and Principal of Degree College, Sunny Gudino Principal of PU College, Mrs Pushpalatha Urs Vice Principal, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ -Finance Officer of the college, and the cultural Coordinator Ms Princy Flavia Pinto. The day began with the college band welcoming the guests and NCC escorted the guests towards the stage.
The college then witnessed various cultural events. Different cultural events were conducted for both PUC and High School. Students from various colleges actively participated in different events. Some of the events were group dance, skit, Essay writing, Treasure hunt, Face Painting, Variety entertainment, Quiz, cooking without fire, Science model, traditional King and Queen etc. Participation certificates were given to all the participants and all the winners were awarded with Trophies and certificates. Grasim High school won the title of best participating team. The overall championship trophy was announced in the evening during the college day programme. Sidaganda PU college won the overall championship.
COLLEGE DAY CELEBRATION:
The Annual day of St Aloysius College was held on 13th of November 2019. The college Band welcomed the guests from the gate and the NCC escorted the guests to the stage. The guests for the day were S Ramappa, the MLA of Harihar Taluk, Smt Sridevi Manjappa, president of Harihar Taluk Panchayat, K.B Ramachandrappa, the Tahsildar of Harihar Taluk, Ramakrishna Nayak, Head of Continuous Improvement Lead, Cargil India Pvt.ltd, Fr Eric Mathias SJ, Superior and Principal of Degree, Sunny Gudino Principal of PU college, Mrs Pushpalatha Urs Vice principal of College, Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ Finance Officer of St Aloysius College and Fr Prasanth.
The program began with a welcome dance which was led by Shema Israel. The college choir team welcomed the gathering with a soothing song. Student council Members along with the cultural coordinator Ms Princy Flavia Pinto lead the dignitaries to the dais. Master of the Ceremony Ms Deepthi D’souza called upon Ms Rashmitha H to welcome the gathering. “What is to give light must endure burning” All the dignitaries inaugurated the program by lighting the Lamp which was followed by the felicitation of the guests.
Ramakrishna stressed on the fact that Education is the Backbone of Life and he also Enlightned the students about the different types of competitive exams. K.B Ramachandrappa spoke about the Importance of Education. Followed by the speech of chief guests Ms Shimmi Raj Department of English announced the names of the students who have excelled in Academics and also to the silver medalist of state level Taekwondo competition. Students were Awarded with Medals and certificates. Ms Jayasree Department of Commerce called upon Vice Principal of St Aloysius college Mrs Pushpalatha Urs, Non-Teaching Staffs Mr Bahubali and Mrs Shobha for their priceless and compassionate service of more than Ten years for the institution. They were felicitated by all the Dignitaries on the dais.
Overall Championship of Aloysia 2K19 which was held on the same day was announced on this occasion. Sidaganda PU college grabbed the overall championship. The most awaited award of the evening, went to Macton from Second PUC science and Anusha from Second PU Commerce, being the best outgoing student.
An extraordinary visionary and exemplary stalwart Fr Eric Mathias SJ delivered the Presidential address. He highlighted three things; first and foremost, he spoke about Compassion secondly concern for the poor and taking care of common home. The formal program ended with a Vote of thanks which was delivered by Shivkumar M.B department of kannada.
“Culture can become a secret weapon that makes extraordinary things happen.”. The stage was then opened for the cultural programs. Students from both first PUC and Second PUC actively participated in the program. Master of Ceremony of Cultural events were Amar, Ankitha, Macton and Padmini. They made the whole program lively. Every class was given a unique theme one month prior to the program. Students performed on different themes like Effects of social Media on Youth, Ecology, Hunger, Comedy, Unity in diversity, Compassion and cultural treat of North Karnataka. It was a visual treat for the audience. The college choir group mesmerized the audience with an enchanting song. the program ended with a National Anthem.
