‘The Aloysian Fest 2018’ concludes with Colorful and Exuberance

Manfgaluru: St Aloysius College (Autonomous) organized its annual national-level Aloysian Fest from February 1 to 3, 2018. The three-day fest commenced with a formal inaugural programme on February 1. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr K Kishore Alva, Executive Director, UPCL (Udupi Power Corporation Limited) and Joint President of Adani Groups Ltd. The Guest of Honour was Mr Govind Padmasoorya, actor and TV presenter. Rev Fr Dionysius Vas SJ, Rector, St Aloysius Institutions, presided over the function. The Aloysian Fest was an umbrella of seven fests – Artbeat, Composite, Acme, Imprints, Spinout, Aloysiad and Astitva, bringing together several colleges and providing a platform for hundreds of students to exhibit their talents. It is an intercollegiate fest which elevates the spirit and soul of every student.

The exuberant 3-day Aloysian fest drew to a close on February 3, 2018 with the Valedictory program that was held in the Mother Teresa Peace Park, in the college at 3:30 p.m.
Polali Jayarama Bhat, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Karnataka Bank was the Chief Guest for the occasion, and Rev. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College, presided over the function.

“Education is not preparation for life, but Education is life itself”, said P. Jayaram Bhat. He emphasized the importance of education, stating that learning is a continuous and dynamic process that one goes through till the end of his life. Quoting the great Indian philosopher Acharya Chanakya, he said, “If one wishes to seek true education, then he must shun these eight activities – all pleasures that tempt sense; tastes that gratify the tongue; anger and greed; personal beautification; too much entertainment; excessive sleeping and extreme indulgence in anything.”

In his presidential address, the Principal, Rev. Fr Praveen Martis SJ lauded the hard work put into making the fest a memorable one. He congratulated the staff and students, as well as the various colleges that participated and contributed to the success of the fest. He highlighted the significance of the three ‘Es’, i.e. Energy, Effort and Enthusiasm that went into the making of the fest.

There were a total of 30 colleges that participated in the fest. The program concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, where winning colleges were felicitated by the guests present on the dais. Rev. Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, Finance Officer; Dr A M Narahari, Registrar; Dr Mukund Prabhu and Dr Narayan Bhat, Coordinators of the Aloysian Fest; Vice Principals of the various streams; Aman Ahmed, the President of the Students’ Council along with the staff and student coordinators of the seven fests, were also present at the occasion.
