Alva’s holds National Workshop on ‘Ease of Doing Business’in India and Karnataka

Moodbidri: MBA department of Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mijar organized the one-day national workshop on the theme- “Ease of Doing Business in India and Karnataka”, on April 4th.

The principal of NMAMIT Nitte, Dr Niranjan N Chiplunkar inaugurated the workshop. In his inaugural address, Dr Chiplunkar stressed on the need to develop easier and simpler mechanisms to start a business. Acknowledging that ‘reform-perform’ methods are the right approach in business, it would still be better if governments took drastic steps to simplify procedures for business establishments, added Dr Chiplunkar.

Presiding over the function, Alva’s managing trustee, Vivek Alva said that the notion of unemployment was actually a myth. Undue focus and hype over IT-related jobs had taken the sheen out of other jobs, he added. Advertising and marketing fields had been providing ample job opportunities to the youth and it was essential for the young generation to upgrade their skills, stated Alva. With his own experiences, Vivek Alva further said that it is very difficult to get young persons with suitable qualifications for many jobs. Today there is a large scope for starting independent enterprises. Unfortunately, young graduates and postgraduates are seeking only paid jobs instead of seizing opportunities of self-employment.

Dr Peter Fernandes, Principal, AIET was the guest of honour who brought out the various dimensions of ease of doing business. Dean MBA Prof P Ramakrishna Chadaga welcomed. Convener Dr G V Joshi gave out the details of the workshop. Gurudatt Somayaji compered the programme and Dr Nagendra delivered the vote of thanks

In the day-long workshop, five technical sessions from eminent resource persons and moderators were held. Academicians, members of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and students from various educational institutions were the delegates in the workshop.
