Alva’s Mechanical Department Hosts Workshop on Welding Practices
Moodbidri: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mijar, in association with Institute of Pulsed Power Science (IPPS), Kumamoto University, Japan organized the one-day workshop on ‘Advances in Welding Practices’ for engineering students, researchers, academicians and industrialists on 22 March.
Dr Kazuyuki Hokamoto, Professor, Institute of Pulsed Power Science (IPPS) and Department of Mechanical System Engineering, Kumamoto University, Japan was the chief guest during the inauguration programme.
In his inaugural address, Dr Hokamoto stressed that MOUs should not be only in papers. There should be an exchange of knowledge and sharing of ideas among the participants of MOUs, stated Dr Hokamoto.
Dr K Raghukandan, Professor, Department of Manufacturing Engineering, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu was the guest of honour.
Presiding over the programme, Principal Dr Peter Fernandes congratulated the Mechanical Department for taking the initiative of organizing a workshop on advances in welding practices.
Pramod V. B. compered the programme. Convener and HOD Dr Harishanand K. S. welcomed the gathering. Programme coordinator Dr Satyanarayan delivered the vote of thanks. Prof. Suresh K V and other faculties of different departments were present during the occasion.
Range Firing for NCC Cadets held at Alva’s
Moodbidri: Alva’s Air Wing NCC (Flt – B), Moodbidri affiliated to No. 6 Karnataka Air Squadron NCC, Mangalore conducted Range Firing for NCC cadets at Alva’s ground, Moodbidri on March 22.
A total of 64 cadets from 1st and 2nd year Alva’s Air Wing NCC took part in firing at the training given by PI staff of 6 Kar Air Sqn. The cadets were given exposure to safety and operational accuracy aspects and the essence of the military dictum “Ek Goli-Ek Dushman”. The purpose of the camp is to identify best shooters and give them advanced coaching to take part in state and national level competitions.
Commanding Officer Praveen Chandra Panth coordinated the activity.
