AMC Mangalore Organises Symposium on Patient Rights and Grievance Redressal
Mangaluru: Association of medical consultants Mangaluru organised a symposium on patient rights and grievance redressal at the IMA house here on October 29.
The panelists were Dr Arun Bal noted consumer activist and diabetic foot surgeon from Mumbai, Former Commissioner of Police of Hubbali Pandurang H Rane IPS, Prof Narendra Nayak consumer rights educationist, Ronal Fernandes Deccan Herald Mangalore bureau chief, Prof Mahesh Chandra Nayak from SDM Law college Mangalore and Senior Urologist Dr G G Laxman Prabhu moderated the discussion.
Dr Arun Bal a prominent consumer rights awareness activist from Mumbai speaking at the occasion called upon doctors to come forward to carry the message of communication to work as a team in informing the patients at times of crisis.
Prof Narendra Nayak called upon doctors to uphold patients rights in standing against and disowning unscientific cures.
Rane asked doctors to uphold the ethos of humanity, which reigns supreme at times of crisis.
Ronald Fernandes called upon the doctors for an early input at times of crisis to help diffuse situations and clear the air.
Prof Naheshchandra Nayak stressed upon the importance of public relations at all hospitals and preventing prolonged litigation which may not be beneficial to either party.
Dr Satish Bhat speaking stated the need to make public aware of such forum to bridge the divide.
Dr Laxman Prabhu effectively stated the final message of not to lose heart in isolated incidents but continue working ahead to cross the bridge.
The Programme was compered by AMC Secretary Dr Ananth Prasad, AMC Dr Divaker Rao Presided over the function, Dr Prakash Harischandra welcomed the panelists and Dr Thajuddin delivered the Vote of thanks
