Anderlecht beat APOEL 1-0 in Europa League
Nicosia (Cyprus), March 10 (IANS) Belgian Anderlecht scored an 1-0 away win over Cypriot football champions APOEL in their first round game of the 16 stage of the Europa League.
The game’s only goal was scored in the 29th minute by Nicolae Stanciu who took advantage of a slack in the APOEL defensive line, reports Xinhua news agency.
The home team put pressure on Anderlecht in the second half and had its chance to level the score when a Vander Vieira’s long cross hit the cross-bar.
Anderlecht will have the advantage of their away goal when they play the return match at home in a week.
