Anirvedha organizes Tannirbhavi Beach Clean Drive by Children with Special Needs
Mangaluru: Anirvedha is a fully fledged centre for psychological assessment, therapy and training. The aim of the organization is to work towards positive mental health. It is built on the belief that each individual is unique and needs a holistic and progressive strategy. Anirvedha team’s mission is to help each individual develop to their fullest potential as they commit to responsive and supportive intervention. With this goal comes the crucial realization that children with special needs have very few platforms to explore the much needed social development and acquaint themselves with mainstream activities. Anirvedha has been successful in engaging these children in activities that help them to develop awareness on social responsibility.
In order to further consolidate this noble cause, Anirvedha in strong collaboration with Eco Warriors- Mangaluru and Blue Umbrella, Mangaluru, organized “Beach Clean Drive – for children with special needs”, on the 8th and 9th of December 2018 at Tannir Bhavi Beach. Nearly 30 children along with their parents, relatives and the volunteers had actively taken part in cleaning up the beach premises. This was a wonderful opportunity that allowed children to explore their skills and promote their therapeutic growth. It was also truly an invigorating and novel experience to all the children. The event concluded with “Kite Flying” – an activity for children and a treat to eyes as well hosted by Mr. Harha (Trek Guide- Youth Hostel Mangaluru).
Indeed, these kids have stood up to the saying, “A child is like a butterfly in the garden. Some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each and every child is different, beautiful and special”.
A note of gratitude to Mrs. Swetha K. T., Head, Anirvedha; Mrs. Usha M. and Arjun Shivakumar from Eco Warriors – Mangaluru (A team of volunteers who are striving towards ocean/beach cleanliness in and around Mangaluru); Vinod Alva and Ms Asha Shetty from Blue Umbrella, Mangaluru, for spearheading this event.
