Annual Feast of Infant Jesus Ends with the Theme ‘Put On Christ and Be Holy’
Mangaluru: “Put on Christ and be Holy,” was the theme of the Annual Feast of Infant Jesus. The day was dedicated to pray for those who involved directly and indirectly to make this a Successful one. All the masses were held in open air. There were 5 Holy Masses in Konkani and Kannada. All the Preachers of the day spent time in inspiring the faithful on what ground we have failed to put on Christ. They invited the faithful to cultivate the attitude of holiness in every way possible and thereby grow closer to him.
The Second day of Festal Mass at 10:30 am was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese. The thanksgiving mass at 6:30 pm was presided over by Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao OCD, Provincial Superior, Karnataka-Goa Province. Fr. John Sequeira broke the word of God. After this mass Fr. Prakash D’ Cunha, Shrine Director, thanked all those who made this event a successful and memorable one. The other preachers of the day were Fr. John Sequeira OCD, Xellim, Fr. Austin Peris, Fr. Victor Machado and Fr. Rajendra.
In the evening Fr. Prakash D’ Cunha led the Eucharistic Adoration and prayed for the intentions of the day and invited people to pray for those who involved in festal arrangements during the novena days as well as on Feast days. After the thanksgiving mass, at the closing of the event we had a Eucharistic Procession. After the blessing of Most Sacrament, the flag that was hoisted at the beginning of the novena was brought down by Rev. Fr. Charles Serrao OCD, Provincial Superior, Karnataka-Goa Province and was handed over to Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues, the Prior of the Monastery.
Throughout the day thousands of people flocked to participate in the liturgy. They sought the blessings of Infant Jesus and thank Him for wonders He had done in their lives. In the noon ‘Annasantarpane’ – lunch was distributed to over 10000 devotees. At the closing of the day sweets were distributed to share the joy of the Annual feast of Infant Jesus.
