Anti-rowdy Squad busts Drug Racket, 2 Inter-state Drug Peddlers Arrested
Mangaluru: The Anti-rowdy Squad seized a huge haul of banned narcotic substance worth over Rs 2.36 lakh from inter-state drug peddlers in the City here on December 25.
The arrested have been identified as Carl Austin D’Cunha (29) from Hampankatta and Anoop Almeida (26) from Silvergate Kulshekar.
According to the police on October 26, the Anti-Rowdy Squad of the Mangaluru City Police had arrested Nikhil K B (24) from Kasargod, Shravan Poojary (23) from Niddel Kulshekar, Roshan Veigas (22) from Kannur Kerala and Bashim Basheer (22) from Thrissur Kerala.
On October 26, on getting reliable information that four youth were selling banned narcotic drugs such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine and Methylene Dioxy Methamphetamine tablets, the Mangaluru South Anti-rowdy Squad got into action and succeeded in arresting the inter-state drug peddlers. Now by arresting Carl and Anoop the number of the accused have increased to 6.
The police have seized 93 MDM pills, Hyundai car, 3 mobile phones and cash Rs 30,850 all worth Rs 2.36 lakh. The accused Carl has been involved in various crimes and cases have been registered against him in NCB Bengaluru in 2014 and 2015.
Under the able direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh and under the guidance of DCP Law and Order Hanumantharaya, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth the operation was carried out by the ACP of South Subdivision K Ramrao, Sundar Achar, Mohan K V, Girish Bengre, Ravinath Mulky, Sunil Kumar, Reji V M, Ravichandra Padre, Damodar, Rajaram Kootattaje, Mohammed Sheriff, Dayanand, Sudheer Shetty, Mahesh Kumar and Mohammed Iqbal.
