Anupam Kher’s ‘The Headhunter’s Calling’ to premiere at TIFF
Mumbai, July 31 (IANS) Veteran actor Anupam Kher’s film “The Headhunter’s Callingâ€, which features Scottish actor Gerard Butler in a key role, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The film festival will take place from September 8 to 18.
Kher, honoured with Padma Bhushan, shared the news on his Twitter handle and even posted a video.
“My film ‘The Headhunter’s Calling’ with Gerard Butler is premiering at Toronto Int Film Festival,†Anupam wrote.
In the accompanying video, the actor says: “I came to the city of Mumbai on June 3, 1981, with Rs 37 in my pocket, which is half a dollar and I can say that I have done fairly well.”
“I want to share a great news with you that my film ‘The Headhunter’s Calling’ which also stars Gerard Butler and William Dafoe, has been selected at International film festival at Toronto.â€
By citing the example of how a “Rs 37 guy from Mumbai will be attending a film festival”, he wanted to convey: “If that can happen, then anything can happen. Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai. Jai Ho.â€
The 61-year-old, who essays an Indian-American pediatric oncologist in the film, attended the TIFF in 2012 for the premiere of his Hollywood film “Silver Linings Playbookâ€, which also starred American actors Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence.
“The Headhunter’s Calling” is directed by Mark Williams and written by Bill Dubuque.
