Application Still Open for Guarantee Scheme: Udupi DC Vidyakumari

Udupi: The Udupi District Commissioner, Dr. K. Vidyakumari, has announced that applications are still being accepted for the state government’s Panch Guarantee schemes, aimed at providing critical financial assistance to the underprivileged and middle-class citizens. To bolster public knowledge and participation in these initiatives, a ‘Kala Jatha’ program has been launched, which will traverse the district to deliver information directly to eligible beneficiaries.

At the inauguration of the ‘Kala Jatha’ vehicle, held at the Manipal Rajathadri District Commissioner’s office, Dr. Vidyakumari underscored the significance of programs such as Grihalakshmi, Shakti Yojana, Anna Bhagya, Griha Jyoti, and Yuvanidhi. “These schemes are designed to lift the economic status of the poor and middle-income families,” she stated, noting that a substantial number of individuals in the district have already availed themselves of at least one of these services.

The primary objective of the Kala Jatha initiative is to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach every eligible person. Dr. Vidyakumari emphasized that there is currently no application deadline, and eligible individuals are encouraged to leverage this opportunity for their benefit.

The mobile awareness campaign will extend its reach across the district, informing the public about the available Panch Guarantee schemes and urging those who have yet to apply to seek assistance and gather relevant information. The District Commissioner advised the public to utilize these schemes prudently, particularly cautioning against the misuse of free travel on KSRTC buses and the Griha Jyoti scheme.

Ramesh Kanchan, President of the Udupi Taluk Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee, highlighted the positive impact the Panch Guarantee schemes have had as a vital support system for many residents statewide, especially for women. He reiterated the importance of ensuring that these initiatives extend to the most marginalized sectors of society.

Attendees at the launch event included Udupi Urban Development Authority President Dinkar Herur, Information Officer Manjunath B, district-level officials, and local artists.

As part of the ongoing Kala Jatha efforts, promotional vehicles, and artistic teams will be deployed to various locations across the district, fostering greater awareness of not only the Panch Guarantee schemes but also other beneficial government programs.
