Armed robbers strike Netravati Express, Rob Passenger of 4.11kg Gold
Udupi: Armed robbers on Monday, September 18, looted gold and valuables from a passenger on the Netravati (Mumbai-Thiruvananthapuram) near Surthkal.
According to SP Dr Sanjeev Patil the incident took place during the morning hours. Rajendra Singh who was working for a jewellery company in Mumbai was travelling in the sleeper class S-7, his suitcase containing gold bangles was taken away after thieves came brandishing a knife and pistol.
They then escaped at Suratkal railway station. Rajendra Singh has sustained minor injuries. The gold robbed is about 4.11 kgs. 3 teams headed by Rishikesh Sonawane IPS Additional SP have been formed to trace the culprits.
A Case has been registered at Padubidri Police station.
