Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, ” To celebrate the idea of unity in diversity, the Ministry of Culture-Govt of India will be organizing a “Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav” at Nehru Maidan, under the Ek Bharat Shestra Bharath matrix, which has already begun in Karnataka from 14 January, but in Mangaluru it will be held on 19 and 20th January 2018. The state paired with Karnataka is Uttarakhand”

He further said, ” The Mahotsav will cover profusion at art forms classical and folk, music and dance, theatre to literature and the visual arts, and would offer the chance to experience the best in established and emerged virtuosity. A handloom and handicrafts-Utsav will also be a part of the forthcoming event. The gastronomic culture of several partnering states will also be showcased through a food festival. The Mahotsav already kicked off in Bengaluru on 14-16 Jan; and Hubli-Dharwad will be today (17 Jan) and 18 January. Various cultural programmes will be incorporated in the Mahotsav”.

The inauguration of the Mahotsav in Mangaluru will be on 19 January at Nehru Maidan at 6 pm, with honorable guests including MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, State Minister Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo; MCC Mayor Ms Kavitha Sanil and DC Sasikanth Senthil IAS.

The NDA government started the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav to showcase India’s diverse culture and to promote the cultural inter-linkages to strengthen national integration. The Mahotsav was envisioned to preserve, promote and popularize the heritage and cultural diversity of Indian culture and reconnect the new generation with Indian culture.
