Asranna House Dacoity case, 4 more held
Mangaluru: Four more persons have been arrested by the CCB and Bajpe police in the case of Dacoity at Vasudeva Asranna’s house on October 4, said the police commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at the Commissioner’s office here on October 31.
The arrested have been identified as Bharat Shetty (30), from Karkala, Mohammed Ali (35), from Melkar Bantwal, Purushotham (44), from Pavanje and Harish Gatti (41), Sankolige, Someshwar, Uchil.
Chandra Sekhar also said that the case was very sensitive and a sensational one as 8 persons had entered Asranna’s house with weapons and decamped with 80 Sovereigns of gold and cash by tying up Asranna’s son Devikumar and other family members. After the dacoity, we had formed various teams to nab the culprits. In this case, the CCB police team led by Inspector Sunil Nayak, Bajpe police inspector T D Nagaraj and their team have already arrested 7 of the accused.
To nab the other accused, the CCB inspector Sunil along with his team traveled to Maharastra, Goa, Chikkamagaluru and Udupi. After getting information that Barath had come to Karkala for the Diwali festival, the CCB police raided Bharat’s House in Palli Karkala and arrested him. The police recovered 455 grams of gold ornaments, a revolver, 4 live bullets and a mobile phone from his possession.
During interrogation, Bharat revealed that one Mohammed Ali was also involved in the case. The police raided Mohammed Ali’s house and took him into custody, they recovered a pistol, four live bullets, and a mobile phone from his possession.
According to the information from Bharat, police raided and arrested Harish Gatti from Sankolige in Bejai Kapikad and recovered a gun, a machete and a mobile phone from his possession.
The accused Bharat Shetty was involved in the Sulaiman murder case, Leo Pereira kidnap case in Karkala police station and a case has also been registered against him in the VT police station, Mumbai under the Arms act. Bharat was absconding and did not appear before the court, a search warrant was also issued for him.
Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar also announced a cash reward to Bajpe and CCB police involved in the operations.
