Ashley Roberts’s rebellious childhood inspired her shoe line
Los Angeles, Feb 11 (IANS) Singer Ashley Roberts, former member of The Pussycat Dolls, says her rebellious childhood inspired her shoe line – Allyn, which is titled after her middle name.
“My father was a musician and he was in the Mamas and the Papas for a little bit, and I grew up around creativity, rock and roll. So a lot of my inspiration is from what I saw growing up,” Roberts said during an interview to website BANG Showbiz about her latest venture and what influenced her designs, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
“A lot of the buckles on my shoe are inspired by Phoenix, Arizona, because we have a lot of Western cowboys, so I really tried to tie in my inspiration from growing up with my father, and also what inspired me as a teenager – rebelling.”
The singer added: “Different celebrities; whether they were an actress, whether they were an artiste, whether they were a 1990s supermodel… I was just really inspired in the 1990s, I think I was hitting an age where I was a sponge of what was going on in pop culture.
“A lot of them were Ani DiFranco, Prince, and then some 1990s supermodels like Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, Drew Barrymore and Alicia Silverstone, Liv Tyler, so it was kind of inspiration that I took on to design the shoe.”
She shared her range is a “nice balance” between masculine and feminine styles, which she believes will make women feel empowered when they don her creations.
