Assad says Syrian constitution not for bargaining
Damascus: Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said on Sunday the Syrian constitution is not for bargaining.
Speaking at a meeting, the President said there will be no dialogue between the national side, who protected the country, and others who were a puppet for the West, Xinhua news agency reported.
The remarks came as the formation of a constitutional committee to draft or review the current constitution is on the table.
The constitutional committee is supposed to be formed by the Syrian government and opposition, but the UN wanted a third category in the committee also, which has been protested by the government.
Assad said the role of the UN is welcomed only when it based on respecting the sovereignty of the country.
Meanwhile, Assad said all of Syria will be retaken by the Syrian government, noting the future of Syria will be solely determined by the Syrians.
He also said to the groups that work for the US that “the America will not protect you and you will be a tool in his hands for bargaining”.
