Assaulting Police is Terrorism, Spread to Mangaluru from Kerala – MP Nalin Kumar Kateel
Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel paid a visit to ASI Aithappa and enquired about his health at the A J Hospital here on April 8. Aithappa was assaulted by bikers while he was on duty, at the Ladyhill circle on April 5.
MP Nalin met the ASI at his hospital room and spoke to him. He also spoke to his wife and son who are assisting Aithappa in the hospital.
After visiting the hospital speaking to the media persons MP Nalin said, “After Siddaramaiah become the Chief minister, the common man in the state has no safety. The home ministry has not taken any measures to provide safety for the common man. A number of murders, from Rudresh to Prashanth Poojary have taken place in the district, but the government has closed its eyes. After the suicide of DySP Ganapathi, the home ministry and the government should have been alert. The silence of the government and the home ministry has led to goondaism in the state. The government has failed to control murders and communal violence in the state”.
Nalin further said, “The police who are providing us safety, if they are assaulted, how then will the common man be safe? This is terrorism! Terrorism is not only blasting bombs or an assault with guns, assaulting police officers on duty is also terrorism. Terrorism has stepped into Mangaluru, by involving in illegal activities they are creating fear among the citizens as well as the police. When Karthik was killed the government did not take any measures to nab the culprits. The activities of the ISIS in Kasaragod is spreading to Mangaluru with an increase in criminal activities. So far no one dared to assault the police but the time has changed and even the police officers are not safe. The people of Dakshina Kannada do not dare to assault anyone, this is a terrorist act and this should be investigated thoroughly. The Police should be given full authority to curb such acts. If we don’t stop such activities, in the coming days there will be a danger to the people of DK.”
When asked if he would take any measures through the Union government, Nalin said, “We have discussed the issue in the Lok Sabha, if such incidents continue, we will initiate action through the Union government”, he assured.
