Auto Driver Arrested for Stealing Gold Ornaments of Senior Citizen
Mangaluru: The Urwa police have arrested an autorickshaw driver in connection with stealing the gold ornaments of a senior citizen on August 19.
The arrested has been identified as Praveen Rama Naika (40) from Shaktinagar.
According to the police, 72-year-old Philomena Saldanha resides in Chilimbi near Panchalingeshwar Temple and the autorickshaw driver Praveen used to assist her. On June 7, Praveen stole all her gold ornaments and fled. In this connection, Philomena filed a case in the Urwa police station.
Based on the complaint, the Urwa police arrested the accused and seized the gold ornaments which he had pawned in the bank for a loan and other gold ornaments worth Rs 4.32 lakh from his possession.
Under the direction of Police commissioner Vikas Kumar and the able guidance of DCP law and order Arunagshugiri and DCP Crime and Traffic Vinay Gaonker, the operation was carried out by the Urwa police inspector Mohammed Sheriff, PSI Srikala, ASI Balakrishna, Prakash and Basavaraj Biradar.
