Awareness Programme on ‘Alzheimer’s Dementia’-Understanding & Relief – An Insight for Elders
Mangaluru: ” You must approach the Government and seek assistance for such a Tragic Disease which both the Affected & Families Suffer Hugely “suggested Dr.Ramakrishna Rao, District Health & Family Welfare Officer, DHO, as he Inaugurated The “ALZHEIMER’S DEMENTIA – Understanding & Relief – An Insight for Elders ” An Awareness Program, which was organized By MCF Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College (KAMC) & Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association (MAA) on 10th Saturday 2018 at KAMC.Ashoknagar, Mangalore.
Prabhakar Rao, Director – Works, MCF Ltd. briefed the huge gathering on the Role of MCF towards contributing to society as part of its CSR Corporate Social Responsibility., in his welcome address. ” Former PM AB Vajpayee, our District Personality George Fernandes, Boxer Mohammed Ali, All Huge Achievers BUT sadly suffered Dementia and as there is No Definite Cure yet, we must guide and sensitize people in care giving ” said Jerardin D’Souza, Founder, MAA – Mangalore Alzheimer’s Association in his introduction to the Alzheimer’s Awareness Program.
“My Father used to just go to Government College, saying its College Day in His home clothes 15 Years after his retirement as Principal of Government College” recounted Dr.Prabha Adhikari, whose Father Suffered Alzheimer’s Dementia. She explained in detail the causes and effects of Alzheimer’s Dementia with PPT and also showed the Documentary on Alzheimer’s Dementia- ”I Dont Miss Him ” Directed By National Award Winning Director O.P.Srivastava. A Tribute to her Father Prof.Ramachandra Rao.
Dr.Sandeep Bekal, explained various Life Style Variations, Food Intakes and other aspects using Ayurveda to prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s Dementia. Dr.Santosh Kumar J., Principal, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College, expressed his sincere thanks to all involved. KMC Nava Chaitanya, Spoorthi Trust, AGE Mangalore, All Active Aging Centres, participated actively and provided great entertainment through brilliant dances and skits.
KAMC Students performed spectacular meaningful skit. It was a meaningful and very informative programme attended by lots of Seniors and General Public & Students. Dr.Yogisha of MCF compered brilliantly in his unique style. Suresh, DGM, MCF provided all round support. The program ended with the National Anthem.
