Ayanur Manjunath, Capt Ganesh Karnik confident of winning MLC polls

Udupi: South-West Graduates constituency candidate Ayanur Manjunath, and South-West Teachers’ constituency candidate Capt. Ganesh Karnik have expressed confidence that the BJP will be victorious in the elections to the Legislative Council.

Addressing the joint press meet at Udupi District BJP office on June 1, Capt Ganesh Karnik appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise in favour of him as the BJP government had made honest attempts to solve the problems of the teachers and lecturers in the state. The South West Teachers’ Constituency consists of voters from five districts.

“When the Bharatiya Janata Party was in power, they had sanctioned Rs 4800 crore to Rs 18666 crore for education. When the BJP government was in the power, it had brought the Kannada medium schools under various grants, filled vacant posts, solved several problems in the Morarji Desai residential schools, built 191-degree colleges, and formed Medical, Agricultural, Horticultural, Law, Music Folk and Cultural universities in the state. The teachers have lost faith in the previous government. There are several crores Rupees of grants which have been pending over the last five years”, he said.

The South-West Graduates constituency candidate Ayanur Manjunath said that the South West Teachers’ Constituency consists of 5 MPs and 30 assembly constituencies, out of which 27 are in the fold of the BJP. Manjunath said, “For the past ten years, no one has taken the problems of graduates and working-class voters seriously. I have been able to give solutions for the graduate voters’ problems. If I am elected, then I can speak in the legislative council in favour of 25000 graduate employees and solve their problems.”

MLA Lalaji R Mendon, MLA Kota Srinivas Poojary, ZP president Dinakar Babu, District BJP president Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, BJP leader Suresh Nayak, Naveen Shetty Kuthar, Shyamala Kundar, Sandhya Ramesh and others were present.
