Babri Masjid Demolition was a Movement, Advani need not Resign – Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi: “The Babri Masjid demolition was a movement, it should not be compared with any other cases”, said Pejawar Sri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji.

He was speaking to media persons on the mounting pressure on Lal Krishna Advani and others to resign following the resumption of the Babri Masjid trail by the Supreme Court. “Lal Krishna Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharati need not resign in the Babri Masjid demolition case. Babri Masjid demolition case is not a corruption case, the accused in corruption cases have served as ministers”,  said the Swamiji.

Swamiji further said, “The accused are facing trial and are not convicted, the case will not have any impact if Advani contests for the presidential elections. There is nothing wrong in Advani contesting the presidential elections”.

“Many were lodged in jails during the satyagraha movement and the emergency period, it was a movement. Babri Masjid demolition should not be compared with any other case”, he added.
