Bad Planning of MCC Park with No Drainage Knocks Down Neighbours Compound Wall
Bad Planning of MCC Park with No Drainage Knocks Down Neighbour’s Home Compound Wall and their Water Tank, near Kavu Shree Panchalingeshwara Temple Road, close to Coast Guard Residential Colony in Yekkur-Mangaluru
Mangaluru: Yet another unplanned and negligence of Mangaluru City Corporation has come to light, where a compound wall and the water tank collapsed of a house belonging to L Vas, residing on Kavu Shree Panchalingeshwara Temple Road, close to Coast Guard Residential Colony in Yekkur-Mangaluru- the reason for the wall to collapse was due to the water being stranded inside the park, and near the compound wall. The Park is constructed on a slightly sloppy surface, and when it rained heavily during the last few days, the water flowed and got collected near to the neighbour’s compound wall, and due to the weight knocked down the wall- and when the wall fell it also damaged the house water tank.
Speaking to Team Mangalorean, L Vas said, “When MCC had built the park, they never constructed a drainage for the water to flow. And due to the water getting stranded in volumes near to the compound wall, resulting in the wall to collapse due to the weight of the water. When the incident happened, our contractor has spoken to our area ward corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, who had agreed to split the cost of rebuilding the compound wall, and other expenses. But a few days later, he had changed his mind, where he said that due to lack of funds MCC will not be able to bear any cost. He is also blaming on the poor condition of my compound wall, stating that the foundation was not strong-but as per our contractor, the wall had a strong foundation, and it collapsed only because of the weight of the water collecting around it and gushing into it.”
“It’s been many days now since the compound wall has collapsed due to MCC negligence, but none of the MCC officials nor the Corporator have come forward to speak to me or rebuild the wall, and also the water tank. I only hope that this report highlighted in the website will send a message to the concerned people in the MCC and do the needful at the earliest, before it gets worse due to the non-stop rains these days. Why should I have to spend money, when it was MCC’s fault for not providing a proper drainage system- all this damage wouldn’t have happened,” added Vas.
