Ban on Kambala will be Lifted – Yeddyurappa
Mangaluru: “When the Supreme court imposed a ban on Jallikattu, the traditional sports Kambala was also banned. Kambala is a traditional buffalo race and it has more than 1000 years of history. There is a connection between the religious feelings and the traditional sports Kambala. When the Traditional sport of Tamil Nadu Jallikattu was banned, a similar ban was imposed on Kambala. On January 30, the judgement will be given and we have trust that we will get justice”, said the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and the president of Karnataka BJP B S Yeddyurappa in a press meet held at BJP office here on January 23.
Thumbay Dam
Yeddyurappa further said, “In the issue of Thumbay dam. A proper survey should be done, the Court has given judgement in favour of the farmers. The farmers who will lose their land due to the extension of Thumbay dam should be compensated. MRPL should not acquire the land belonging to the farmers without compensating them. MRPL should understand the problems of the farmers and take them to confidence before acquiring their land and proper compensation should be given.”
Smart City
Under the Amrit scheme, the central government has selected Mangaluru in the list of smart cities. Already Rs 10,000 crore have been sanctioned by the central government for the development of Dakshina Kannada. To develop the national highways, in all the districts in the state, the central government has already released the funds”.
Law and order Situation
In Dakshina Kannada district the law and order situation has totally collapsed, which is very painful. There are continuous murders and other crimes taking place. Already 6 stabbing cases, 3 murders have been registered but so far the police have failed to arrest anyone. It is the duty of the government to provide safety to the people. Women are not safe the situation here has created fear in the minds of the people. The government should take all the measures to provide safety and bring the law and order under control”.
Drought relief
The central government has sanctioned Rs 1,782 crore to Karnataka but the state government is blaming the central government for not providing the funds demanded. Let the State government spend the sanctioned funds properly, and then PM Modi is ready to sanction more funds to the state. Without spending the funds, if the state government blames the central government it is not fair. After the budget, we will tour the state and find out the problems of the people. There is a demand to waive the loan of the farmers, in this regard we demand the state government waive the loan.
When asked what is his stand on the Yettinahole project, Yeddyurappa said, “People of DK should be taken to confidence, a meeting should be called and discussions should be held on the scientific report of the project. If there is more water, there is no objection to providing water to anyone. I have given the same statement in Kolar.”
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, District BJP president Sanjeeva Matandoor, former MLA Yogish Bhat, Nagaraj Shetty, Sulochana Bhat, Monappa Bhandary and others were also present.
Kambala is not the need of the hour now, please first stop the yettinahole.
