Dhaka, Aug 6 (IANS) The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be sending a two-member security team to Pakistan in order to assess the playing conditions and security arrangements before deciding on sending its women’s team on a tour.

BCB will take a final call regarding the tour in consultation with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after assessment of the security team.

“In principle we agreed to send our women’s team and accordingly PCB sent us a proposal. Now our own security team will visit Pakistan within the next few weeks to assess the situation,” BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury was quoted as saying by thedailystar.net on Thursday.

“The board will discuss on their report later. And we have to go through many other processes before making the decision.”

“The players had expressed their interest long ago, but the board will definitely talk with them once we complete the initial formalities. If we get the green signal, then the women’s team may tour Pakistan in October,” he added.

A security team from BCB had earlier visited Pakistan in 2012, but two such proposed tours were cancelled by Bangladesh citing security reasons.

Pakistan too responded by withdrawing their players from the Bangladesh Premier League in 2013. They were not even allowed to ply their trade in the Dhaka Premier League.

However, PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan’s visit to the country last year helped revive the relationship and Pakistan played against Bangladesh here in April-May.
