Bannanje Raja brought to Udupi under tight security to meet his ill-health mother

Udupi: Gangster Bannanje Raja who was in Belagavi jail was brought to Udupi under tight security on Sunday, July 8, to meet his sick mother.

Bannanje Raja who was lodged in Belagavi jail had requested the court to meet his sick mother residing at Kalamdi near Malpe. The court has granted him permission to meet his mother on humanitarian grounds. As per the court order, Raja was brought to the Udupi Town Station on Sunday evening. After paying the security charges to the court was Raja brought to Udupi.

Raja is lodged in the Udupi Town Police Station cell under tight security and will spend the night in the station. On Monday morning at 6:00 am he will be taken to his house where he will spend time with his mother until 6:00 pm, later he will be brought back to the Udupi Town Station. On Tuesday morning Raja will be taken back to Belagavi Jail.

A high-level security has been deployed in and around the Udupi Town Police station. 3 CC TV cameras are installed inside the cell and entry is prohibited to the public between Sunday 6 pm to Monday 6 am and also on Monday from 6 pm to Tuesday 6 am. ASP Kumarchandra visited the Police station and inspected the security arrangements.

Bannanje Raja a native of Udupi is facing 44 cases. He was extradited from Morocco in 2015 in connection with 16 cases.

After extradition, he was brought to Udupi under tight security on August 15, 2015. Of the 16 cases for which he was extradited, four cases are in Udupi, including two cases in the Udupi Town Police Station, one case each in Manipal and Malpe police stations.
