Bantwal Police Arrest 8 persons in Attempt to Murder case
Bantwal: The Bantwal police have arrested 8 persons in connection with the attempt to murder and assault on people who were transporting cows.
The arrested have been identified as Vijeth, Abhi alias Abhijith from Manchi Kayyar, Mithun Kumar Kalladka, Amith, Yatin, Sharat Kumar, Abhishek and Pushparaj from Kepu Vittal.
Sharat Kumar, Amith, Yatin and Pushparaj had assaulted the persons who were transporting cows at Neerapade recently. Mithun Kumar, Vijeth, Abhijith, and Abhishek had assaulted the owner of Nisha Sounds and lightings Harish Gowda and looted his belongings. All of the arrested were produced before the court in Bantwal, where they were remanded to judicial custody.
According to the police, every year Harish Gowda was lighting the Manchi Temple festival but this year the contract was given to one of the accused Vijeth. Harish Gowda went to the Temple administrator and asked the reason for not giving him the contract this year. Harish Gowda had on the phone inquired with Vijeth about the contract, but Vijeth along with Mithun, Abhi and other group members assaulted Harish Gowda and looted Rs 38,000 from him. When Harish was admitted to the hospital with severe injuries, he had also received a call threatening him with life if he files any case against them”.
In this connection, the case was filed in the Bantwal police station under IPC section 143, 147, 148, 504, 506, 507, 323, 324, 307 and 397. Mithun Kumar is also involved in various murder cases, the 2015 Harish Poojary murder case in Navoor, Badruddin from Brahmarakutlu murder case, attempt to murder case, extortion, assault and dacoity cases.
Vijeth and Abhijith are involved in the Malaibettu Sajipa Mohammed Nasir murder case, Mohammed Mustafa murder case and various crimes in the Bantwal police station limits. After murdering Nasir, Abhijit was absconding and had appeared on the previous day of the attempt on Harish Gowda’s life. In the Nasir murder case, Vijeth was released on bail but the family members of Nasir appealed to the high court against his release within a month of Nasir’s murder. The High Court later cancelled the bail of all the three accused in the Nasir murder case.
Under the able guidance of SP Bhushan Borase and Additional SP Dr Vedamurthy, the operation was successfully carried out by DySP Dr Ravish C R, Circle inspector B K Manjaiah, SI Nandakumar, SI A K Rakshith and SI Nagaraj. Police are searching for the other accused who are now absconding. The public has demanded the arrest all the accused and to impose a Goonda act on them.
