Barke Police arrest Two in Chain Snatching case
Mangaluru: The crime section of Barke police station have arrested two persons who were wandering near Bokkapata, Kudroli here on February 15.
The arrested are identified as Niyaz (26), a resident of Ullal and Shameer (36), from Thokkottu.
According to the police, the Barke police on special duty of collecting information from Urwa Market, KSRTC and M G Road area of some accused persons, while passing through Muthoot finance at Bokkapatna, Kudroli got suspicious of two persons wandering in the area and took them for questioning. During questioning, both Niyaz and Shameer were unable to give satisfactory answers, on further investigations police recovered 2 Mangalsutras from them.
They later revealed that they had snatched one Mangalsutra from a woman’s neck when she was walking at Gandhi Nagar 4th cross. They had used a motorbike with registration number KA 19 Y 1859 to commit the crime. Another Mangalsutra was snatched from a woman traveling by train number 16860, they had snatched the chain from the woman and jumped out of the moving train.
The police have recovered 2 Mangalsutras weighing 12 gram each, KA19 Y 1859 Bike, four mobile phones all worth Rs 1.1 lakh from their possession.
Under the able guidance of ACP Uday Nayak the operation was carried out by the Barke police inspector Rajesh A K, Crime department PSI Narendra, PSI Railway Security squad Bharat Raj, ASI Prakash K, Ganesh, Rajesh Attavar, Kishor Kotian, Jayaram, Sunil Kumar, Devarajan, Kishore Kumar, Nagaraj and Mahesh Patil.
