BD activists with Police Barge into Shakir’s House and take Calf

Moodbidri: “The Bajrang Dal activists and the police barged into my house in the middle of the night for rearing a calf, thinking that I had stolen it and forcibly took the calf from the cowshed”, alleged hotelier Mohammed Shakir in a press meet held at the press club here on November 16.

Addressing the mediapersons Mohammed Shakir said, “I am living with my wife, three children and my 65-year-old mother at Beluvai. I run a Non-vegetarian hotel in Beluvai. Sometimes the  food is wasted in the night, so I have reared a calf in my house to which I feed the remaining food. I had purchased the calf 8 months ago from a person in Beluvai. On November 13, midnight when we were all sleeping, the Moodbidri police along with Bajrang Dal activists namely Srinath, Bhaskar Acharya, Ruchethan Jain, Jagga, Prasad and 10 others barged into my compound. While the Bajrang Dal activists were waiting in the compound, the police were searching my house for cow meat. When they did not find the meat, they took away my calf thinking that I have stolen it”.

“There is no complaint against illegal cow slaughtering, nor cattle trafficking but under the pressure of the Bajrang Dal activists, the police barged into my house in the middle of the night and created fear. The Bajrang Dal activists have given wrong information to the police that I am selling beef in the hotel. The Bajrang Dal activists are using the police to stop my hotel business. I have installed CCTV camera in my hotel, so the BD activists have come to my house to trouble me. I will complain the issue to the police commissioner”, said Mohammed Shakir.
