BD Member Deepak Funeral Procession Underway, Leaders Call for State-wide Rasta Roko on Jan 5

Mangaluru: The funeral procession of Deepak Rao is underway after the DC gave permission to hold the funeral procession from the residence of Deepak to the crematorium on January 4.

The former CM and BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa alleged that after the Congress came to power 21 Hindu activists have been murdered. The Congress is supporting the criminals. Deepak Rao’s murder is the 21st and all murders have taken place in a similar way. Karnataka is becoming Kerala in this regard. Frequent murders of Hindu activists show the inability of the Congress government to control crime.

Chief Minister Siddarmaiah said, “Bajranag Dal member Deepak Rao’s murder is unfortunate but BJP is responsible for Communal Violence in Karnataka”, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. BJP is trying to incite violence for political gains. There is no need for Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy to resign”.

Minister Kagodu Thimmapa said, “The State government has taken Deepak Rao’s murder case seriously. BJP leaders are trying to exploit the situation for political gains. Tough action will be taken against the culprits”.

RSS Leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said the government has adopted an anti-Hindu policy. Hindus are of a very peaceful nature, we will not give any opportunity for communal violence. The government is taking the Hindus for granted. When Sharath was killed Minister Ramanath Rai did not come to see his family. After 10 days Rai came as a thief. While he could not visit Sharath’s house which is in is own constituency, how will he come to see Deepak’s body? If the Congress government will not be defeated there will be no peace. Ramanath Rai has no shame, he is encouraging Muslims in crime saying that he won the elections six times with the grace of Allah and Muslims. We have demanded the home minister to visit the spot after which Deepak’s body will be received. We have refused to accept the compensation of Rs 10 lakh. When a cow thief died while he was trafficking cows, the government sanctioned Rs 10 lakh compensation immediately. Deepak was not a cow theif, he was the only breadwinner for his family. Now the family has no support and it is the duty of the government to provide Rs 50 lakh compensation.”

MP Nalin speaking on the occasion said, “We need to do the cremation of the dead body. Today I have come from Delhi to take part in the funeral of Deepak Rao. Deepak was the only breadwinner for his family and his death has devasted the family. His family should get a compensation of at least Rs 50 lakh.”

We have taken all the measures to keep the law and order situation under control. We will continue our duty. 500 policemen from outside have been called to maintain the law and order situation.

The BJP leaders also announced a state-wide rasta roko on January 5 from 10:00 to 11:00 am.
