Be Desi, Adopt Desi Stray Pups & Kittens from Love 4 Paws Charitable Trust
Mangaluru: Many Indians love their pets, so much so, that they’re more like family members to them. And, while a majority still tries to buy expensive breeds, there is a rising number of those who prefer to adopt and not shop, for Desi breeds. But it isn’t only the denizens who seem to have taken a fancy towards bringing home an adopted dog, the demand for desi dogs has great international appeal too! The bottom line here is that if foreigners can adopt Desi dogs aka Indian dogs why not Desi people aka Indians adopt Desi dogs also?.
It’s time to adopt a pet. An camp to promote the adoption of more Indian mongrels was set up near Valencia on Sunday, 17 March 2019 by members of Love 4 Paws Charitable Trust, Mangaluru. The Trust not only had puppies for adoption but a few kittens also, who were anxiously waiting to find a caring home for them. A time to play with the puppies and kittens had also been arranged, where children had a nice time playing with the furry ones.
The Camp was for pet adoption and provide inspiration to people to come forward and give strays and homeless animals the ultimate home life with loving care. Trustee Ms Usha Tharanath of Love 4 Paws Charitable Trust speaking to Team Mangalorean said, “Recently we had formed this Trust, and it was a difficult task. But we are determined to move further and our main goal is to give our valued time, energy and attention to these helpless animals. Having so source of regular funds, we have only one option left out for us, to approach the generous public for help. Having planned to approach the like-minded institutions, organizations, individuals, and few have already promised to help us in our efforts. The best teachings of all religions are sympathy, love and kindness towards innocent creatures”.
“Every creature has the right to live on this Earth. Let us accept this truth and share our feelings with everyone. We will be grateful if readers of Mangalorean.com come forward and lend your helping hand to make this mission of ours a big success. We solicit your generosity towards a noble cause. We aim at finding a permanent home for abandoned puppies and kittens. This is to encourage adoption of Indian breeds of puppies and kittens that adapt to our conditions faster and are very sharp. We are happy that many people patronized our Camp and took home puppies and kittens, and these adopters will not only provide a home to the pet but also find a moment of delight as they find their new family member” added Ms Usha.
It’s nice to note that Love 4 Paws Trust has come forward to care for these stray pups and kittens. Mangaloreans start showing sympathy towards these desi pups/kittnes, so that they find a loving and caring family that would give them a second and better life. That’s a great decision because a stray’s physiology is best suited for the climatic conditions of the place where you live which means they fall sick less often. They are low maintenance as they don’t require much on medical expenses and grooming like brushing, shampooing or special dog food and tonics that a pedigree dog will need. A street dog is just as much loyal, playful, loving, protective just as any other pedigree. They will die protecting you and your family and will NEVER hurt anyone in your house. They can be trained and will listen to every command.
Only a few things you need to do, once you adopt a pup, to take it to the vet and get him checked. Give him all the necessary vaccination shots. Caring for a pet takes a lot of time, discipline and commitment. You will have to have patience during litter training and obedience training. You will have to ensure that he/she gets enough exercise and time from your end to take care of his needs. So if you can give him/her time and can care for him/her before all your needs, then get a pet. Or else be happy petting your friends dog, which is a Desi! It is a great idea! As long as you will be committed in taking care of the dog as a new part of your family, why not? You will also save the dogs’ lives and give them the love they deserve!
I bet you will feel awesome about the fact that you would be giving shelter and warmth to a homeless canine. Remember, dogs are not objects that you buy for your entertainment, they are friends you make. Money can buy a dog but not the wag of its tail. Adopt a stray that actually needs shelter and it would love you like no one else in the world. A stray dog would love you as much as a fancy Husky or a St. Bernard would, probably even more. If you’ve ever loved a dog, you’d know how insensitive it is to objectify them into status symbols. Also stray dogs are very very healthy and have strong immune system. Strays have been living in the harshest weather conditions since forever.
Due to severe financial and infrastructural constraints, as it’s quite hard for an individual or even organization to provide a shelter for all. If each one of us were to adopt one stray or homeless animal, the number of those without shelter would become negligible.
