Beltangady Bridges made Motorable Within a Week, Connectivity Restored
Beltangady: Due to the incessant rain there were landslides in Beltangady and many lost their houses and land. Landslides brought down many bridges including the Kukkavu, Hosamata and Banjarumale Bridges cutting off connectivity. People were worried that it may take months to rebuild the bridges, but within a week motorable temporary bridges have been constructed and connectivity restored.
On August 18, the Banjaru footbridge was completed and tested. The Kukkavu bridge has also been made motorable. The Dedupe and Hosamata bridges have been temporarily constructed and made motorable. The Banjaru bridge which was washed away during the recent heavy rains has been constructed.
From one week the people of Banjaru had lost connectivity and were unable to get food supplies. The district administration was supplying food for 40 families in Banjaru. Constructing the Steel walking bridge within a week, the district administration has provided connectivity to the people of Banjaru. The new Walking Steel bridge is 42 ft long and 4 ft wide.
